Young Volunteers Creating Lasting Impact Across Tasmania

Last month, CatholicCare Tasmania was proud to sponsor the Tasmanian Youth Volunteer Award as part of the Tasmanian Volunteering Awards 2026, celebrating the outstanding contribution young people make to communities across the state. The award recognises young people aged 12 to 25 whose volunteering has created a positive impact through their dedication, leadership and commitment to serving others.

Volunteering plays a vital role in building stronger, more connected communities. Across Tasmania, young volunteers are giving their time, skills and energy to support local organisations, sporting clubs, community initiatives and causes that improve the lives of others. Through their efforts, they are helping create a greater sense of belonging, connection and community wellbeing.

For CatholicCare Tasmania, recognising and celebrating these contributions aligns closely with our mission of strengthening individuals, families and communities. Young volunteers demonstrate that positive change can begin with simple acts of generosity, service and care for others.

CatholicCare Tasmania’s Executive Manager Quality & Impact, Kirsten Free, presented the award and congratulated all nominees and finalists.

“Young volunteers are making a meaningful difference in communities across Tasmania. Every nominee and finalist should be incredibly proud of the contribution they are making through their leadership, compassion and commitment to helping others. Through their actions, they are strengthening communities, supporting those around them and demonstrating the positive impact that each of us can have.”

The 2026 Tasmanian Youth Volunteer Award was presented to Tyrese Holland, recognised for contributing hundreds of volunteer hours across sporting clubs, community organisations and fundraising initiatives in Tasmania’s North-West.

While the awards recognise individual achievement, they also highlight the broader impact of volunteering across Tasmania. Every nominee and finalist has demonstrated the power of community involvement, and the important role young people play in shaping a more connected, compassionate and resilient future.

CatholicCare Tasmania congratulates all nominees, finalists and award recipients, and thanks Volunteering Tasmania for celebrating the vital role volunteers play in strengthening communities across our state.
