Our Commitment
CatholicCare Tasmania honours the strength, wisdom, and cultural heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, acknowledging their deep connection to Country and community. We recognise the past and ongoing impacts of colonisation, genocide, and systemic discrimination, and we commit to truth-telling, healing, and reconciliation.
Our goal is to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples feel seen, valued, and welcomed, celebrating their culture through cultural awareness, advocacy, and meaningful relationships built on respect, equity, and lasting change. Guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan, we hold ourselves accountable to a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are empowered, celebrated, and experience true justice and self-determination.
Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan
CatholicCare Tasmania is currently developing a Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which marks the beginning of our formal commitment to reconciliation. This foundational plan focuses on building respectful relationships, strengthening cultural understanding, and preparing the organisation for future RAPs.
Guided by the pillars of Relationships, Respect, and Opportunities, the Reflect RAP promotes cultural learning, staff engagement, and collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to embed reconciliation into our culture and practices.
