Family Restoration & Family Preservation Programs

CatholicCare Tasmania’s Family Restoration and Family Preservation programs provide intensive, trauma‑informed support to help families create safe, stable and nurturing environments for their children. These programs work in partnership with Child Safety Services (CSS) and aim to keep families safely together wherever possible. Working collaboratively with families and CSS, we focus on building on each family’s strengths, developing clear and achievable goals, and supporting long‑term change that promotes safety, stability and wellbeing.

Program Overview

Working alongside families, we support them to identify achievable goals aimed at:

  • Increasing safety and stability in the home
  • Strengthening relationships and family routines
  • Enhancing parenting capacity and confidence
  • Reducing risks that could lead to statutory intervention
  • Building long‑term networks of support

Our overarching aim is to help families achieve a sustainably safe home environment where children can grow, develop and remain connected to their family whenever possible.

Program Delivery

Support provided to families is trauma‑informed, strengths‑based and delivered through transparent communication with families and Child Safety Services.

Workers provide flexible, practical, home‑based assistance tailored to each family’s goals, routines and cultural context. Support is hands‑on, child‑focused, collaborative and adaptable to daily challenges.
