Devonport Men’s Shelter, also known as Marram Place, provides short‑stay supported accommodation for men experiencing homelessness on the North West Coast of Tasmania. Marram Place offers a safe, respectful and supportive environment where men can stabilise, meet their immediate needs and begin planning their next steps.

Support focuses on dignity, safety and practical help during times of crisis or transition.

Program Overview

Residents are supported with both immediate needs and longer‑term planning. Support includes:

  • Short‑stay supported accommodation
  • Nutritious meals provided during the stay
  • Support to respond to immediate crisis situations
  • Individual case management
  • Goal setting and planning for the future
  • Referrals to specialist and community services
  • Support to build or strengthen life skills, as needed

Support is tailored to each person’s circumstances and focuses on helping residents regain stability and confidence.

Marram Place offers more than accommodation. It is a place where people are treated with respect, understanding and care. Workers understand the challenges that homelessness can bring and provide support in a non‑judgemental and practical way.

Residents are encouraged to take an active role in shaping their goals and next steps, with support provided every step of the way.

Who is it for

Devonport Men’s Shelter is available for men aged 18 years and over, experiencing homelessness. There is capacity to accommodate accompanying children within the family unit, where appropriate, to help keep families together.

Access to this program

Experiencing homelessness can be overwhelming, but help is available. Devonport Men’s Shelter provides a safe place to pause, reset and begin moving forward.

Support is available to help men feel safer, more supported and better equipped to navigate what comes next.
