About Us
CatholicCare Tasmania is the primary social services agency of the Catholic Church in Tasmania, providing wraparound support to individuals, families and communities across the state.
A wide range of services is offered to respond to real needs, strengthen wellbeing and help people move forward with hope and confidence. Services include early learning and care, child and youth services, psychology, mediation and counselling, multicultural programs, housing and homelessness, and family violence support. Support is delivered locally and shaped by the needs of the people and communities served.
Our Mission and Identity
CatholicCare Tasmania’s mission is to enhance the human life of people by offering the full Christian vision for human life.
CatholicCare Tasmania seeks to foster a love for the poor and the vulnerable, a spirit of humble service, of mercy and compassion for all.
CatholicCare Tasmania’s identity is shaped by a long-standing tradition of service to those in need. As part of the Catholic Church’s mission in Tasmania, our work is informed by a commitment to supporting the wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities through holistic wrap-around support that is respectful, welcoming, and recognises each person’s unique journey.
We are guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, which offer a framework for building a fair and compassionate society. These teachings emphasise:
- The dignity of every person
- The importance of the common good
- Solidarity with those experiencing disadvantage
- Stewardship of the environment
- The pursuit of justice and peace
These principles are reflected in how we deliver services and engage with communities across Tasmania. They shape our organisational culture and reinforce our commitment to supporting people with care, respect, and integrity, regardless of their background or beliefs.
