Earlier this week, CatholicCare Tasmania proudly launched our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marking an important milestone in our ongoing reconciliation journey.
Our RAP is not the beginning of this journey. It reflects the meaningful work already undertaken across the organisation over the past two years to strengthen relationships, build cultural capability and embed reconciliation into our everyday practice.
We use the word reconciliation with care, recognising the strength, leadership and enduring connection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples to community and Country, while acknowledging past harms and their ongoing impacts.
During the launch, we were honoured to unveil a commissioned artwork by Reuben Oates. The artwork stands as a meaningful reflection of culture, connection and community, and will serve as an enduring reminder of our commitment to reconciliation.
We also thank Aunty Amanda Pearn for opening the launch with a smoking ceremony,
One of the greatest lessons we have learned is that reconciliation is built through listening, trust and genuine relationships. We are incredibly proud of the willingness shown by staff across CatholicCare Tasmania to embrace this work, ask questions, reflect, and deepen their understanding.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this journey so far. While we are proud of what has been achieved, we know there is more to learn, more relationships to strengthen and more work to do. The journey continues.
