The Between Two Homes program supports separated or divorced parents to develop healthy and sustainable ways of communicating so they can continue to care for their children in a positive and child focused way. The program helps parents understand the experiences of their children during separation and offers practical tools to navigate this time with confidence and care.

Program Overview

Family separation can be a stressful and emotional time. Each parent and each child experiences it differently. Between Two Homes provides information, guidance and strategies that help parents focus on the needs of their children while managing the changes that separation brings.

Support is offered through group sessions facilitated by qualified and experienced Family and Relationship Counsellors.

Parents are supported to:

  • Understand how separation affects each member of the family in different ways
  • Manage emotions for both themselves and their children
  • Recognise triggers and reduce conflict
  • Explore child focused approaches to co parenting
  • Build healthier communication skills during difficult conversations
  • Strengthen their connections with their children
  • Create a more stable and supportive experience for children living between two homes

Access to the program

The program is available to parents and caregivers who are separating, have recently separated or are going through a divorce. Participation is open to anyone seeking support during this transition.

Services are available in the North West region of Tasmania.
