CatholicCare Tasmania Psychological Services provides both individual counselling and psychological assessment services in Hobart and Launceston. Our practitioners work together as a skilled team and consist of Registered and Provisionally Registered Psychologists. Our practitioners are committed to providing services that support wellbeing in a caring and non-judgemental manner.
Therapeutic Counselling Services
Our registered and provisionally registered psychologists offer therapeutic counselling sessions in both our Launceston and Hobart offices. Our practitioners work within evidenced based practice frameworks that they will discuss with you during your initial sessions to ensure we best assist your needs. We are a full fee-paying service with detail provided in the fees and rebates section below.
Who we help
At CatholicCare we provide therapeutic psychological support to children ages 6+, adolescents, and adults throughout their lives. Our registered and provisionally registered psychologists undertake assessment and treatment of various mental health presentations. They provide support to people experiencing a wide range of presentations and difficulties including, but not limited to:
- Mood disorders
- Anger management
- The effects of trauma
- Relationship difficulties
- Sleep difficulties
- Chronic pain management
- Anxiety disorders
- Stress
- Grief and loss
- Self-esteem issues
- Adjusting to life events
- Parenting support
Fees and Medicare Rebates
Therapeutic psychological services provided by CatholicCare Tasmania are fee-for-service. The following listed fees may have Medicare rebates available to eligible individuals who have a Mental Health Care Plan from their doctor. Please note that you will need to pay the full fee at the time of the appointment and claim the rebate through your Medicare App or at a Services Australia office. The fees relate to individual full sessions only that are 50-60 minutes in duration.
Registered Psychologist: $195.00 (Rebate may be available*)
Provisionally Registered Psychologist: $100.00 (No rebate available)
* As of July 1st, 2024, the Medicare rebate for a 50-minute session with a registered psychologist is set at $96.65
