The Francis Program

The program provides focussed support to both family members and individuals who are either ‘on remand’ or serving a prison term of six months or less.

What does this program offer?

The Francis Program is a prison-based service that provides support to prisoners and their families. The program focuses on:

  • Targeted support to individuals and/or their families separated by incarceration
  • Inside and outside of prison advocacy and liaison
  • Practical assistance to help navigate the system
  • Advice, information, and referral relating to healthy relationships and positive parenting
  • Referral to specialist services e.g counselling, housing, child and youth services, emergency relief
  • Access to a range of Parenting Education/ groups/ programs, including; evidence-based and abridged or introductory programs tailored to meet specific needs and circumstances
  • Pre and post-release assistance aiming toward a positive experience of family and community reintegration

Assistance is provided to maintain and/or strengthen their parent-child relationship and build positive connections with families and communities.
