The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare | ResiROCKS

On 10 October, we were delighted to offer members of our Inspire at Home team an invitation as guests to attend ResiROCKS which is an annual event hosted by The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare (The Centre), the peak body for Victoria and now Tasmania.

Over 500 attendees gathered in Melbourne for a day dedicated to celebrating the hard work and commitment of residential care workers across Victoria. This year’s theme, Nurturing the Spark for Education, emphasised education’s decisive role in transforming young people’s lives in residential care.

ResiROCKS, short for "Recognising Our Carers Knowledge and Skills," is an annual event that honours the hard work of residential care workers while fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and the sharing of ideas. This year’s theme, Nurturing the Spark for Education, emphasised the transformative power of education for young people in care.

With inspiring speeches from leaders like The Hon. Lizzie Blandthorn, Minister for Children, and Isaiah Dawe, founder of ID. Know Yourself, the event was both uplifting and enlightening. Our team returned energised, with new insights on how to empower and support the young people we serve in Tasmania.

For many, the highlight was the chance to meet in person with colleagues and network with like-minded professionals. As Gabrielle said, ‘It was a beautiful opportunity with lots of networking and reflection, I’ve never been in a space that celebrates youth workers and the hard work they do’.

This opportunity allowed our team to connect, reflect, and gain valuable insights that will benefit our work in Tasmania. Jacqui, another attendee, remarked, ‘ResiROCKS was a fantastic experience… It was inspiring, motivating, and a great team-building experience that will have a flow-on effect in our Therapeutic Residential Care (TRC) homes.’

The sense of connection and inspiration was felt by all, with many participants expressing their gratitude for the experience. ‘I feel so lucky to be part of an amazing team, connecting with you all was the highlight of the trip,’ noted Kristy.

Our team also had the opportunity to engage with key leaders from The Centre, who recently launched as the peak body for child and family services in Tasmania. This exciting development promises to enhance our service excellence and help us achieve even greater outcomes for the young people in our care.
