Michael Salter joins CatholicCare Tasmania as a Work Health & Safety Advisor

With a genuine passion for improving the safety of all people, Michael felt a strong call to work for an organisation that contributed to the betterment of society.

In his new role, Michael will collaborate with CatholicCare’s 550 employees to improve the safety and well-being of all staff, clients, and visitors.

He aims to significantly improve the safety culture within the organisation and drive down hazards and incidents in the workplace.

“I feel it is critical that in an organisation safety is at the forefront of everything we do to ensure we all go home to our families in the same condition we started the working day in,” he said.

Michael’s previous work in the mining and utilities sectors, which have extremely high levels of safety compliance, has equipped him with excellent situational awareness and the ability to spot hazards quickly and identify risk mitigation strategies and solutions to prevent recurrences.

“I feel fortunate to share my years of knowledge in the safety/compliance field to the community sector with an abundance of transferrable skills,” he said.

Michael’s appointment is an important part of CatholicCare Tasmania’s ongoing commitment to the safety and well-being of all.
